Tax engagement letter (template)

This Engagement Letter describes the services Simple Financial Solutions Limited ("Foxel") will perform for you. Please read carefully. By signing you agree to the terms. The letter supplements, and does not replace, our general Terms of Service.

1. Scope of services

Foxel will prepare the federal and state income tax returns identified in your intake questionnaire for the tax year noted therein. Preparation includes:

• Review of the information you provide.
• Reasonable follow-up questions.
• E-filing of your federal and state returns.
• Response to IRS or state notices directly related to the returns we prepared (included free; audit representation is separately engaged).

Services not included unless separately contracted: tax planning, bookkeeping (unless on a bookkeeping plan), representation before the IRS, forensic accounting, or amended returns for prior years prepared by someone else.

2. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• The accuracy and completeness of information you provide.
• Keeping supporting records as required by law.
• Reviewing the return before we e-file.
• Timely payment of taxes due.

3. Our responsibilities

We will:

• Exercise reasonable care consistent with professional standards.
• Treat all information as confidential, subject to IRS §7216.
• Alert you to issues we notice but will not independently audit the information you provide.
• Maintain errors-and-omissions insurance.

4. Limits

We rely on the information you provide. If information is withheld, inaccurate, or late, we are not responsible for consequences. Our fees for the engagement are shown on your invoice; additional fees may apply if information is substantially late or revised.

5. Records retention

Foxel retains copies of returns and workpapers for seven (7) years as required by IRS and state regulations.

6. Fees

Fees are as shown in your engagement acceptance. Payment is due per the invoice terms.

7. Termination

Either party may terminate this engagement by notice. Fees for work performed up to termination remain due.

8. Signature
